when he remarked that he had a bomb in his luggage But he made the remark at a time when there was considerable ten sion because of two plane crashes thought to involve bombs and a Lake Central Underwood Dr Robert Williams Tippecanoe county coroner pronounced the boy dead after the mother had identi fied him at the scene Robert and two other boy's were fishing at the north of the bridge work site on the west side of the when the Reynolds youngster decided to go swim ming or wading in the lake One of his companions noticed him sink beneath the surface be came alarmed and summoned some of the bridge construction workers While one of the workers drove away to find a telephone an other one John Harmon of Mar I shall donned a skin out fit and dived into the water He found the body on the sticky mud bottom of the Lake and brought it to shore West Lafayette police were called at 11:48 am and sent Pa trolman Arthur Burroughs to the scene Burroughs found Har mon and other construction work ers giving Robert artificial res piration Burroughs used a combination resuscitator inhalator aspirator on the boy and otherwise tried to re vive him for about 45 minutes without success munitions hold lo keep the temperature down while others put out the blaze HENRY SCHLIE Henry Schlie 77 formerly of 1516 Underwood died at 8:15 riday in St Elizabeth hos pital where he had been a patient five days He made his home with his son Donald of Lafayette 5 for the past 12 years Born in Orbeck Germany he came to America in 1891 settling in ort Wayne He was a mem ber of the Holy Trinity English Lutheran church and had been active in the church council for over 22 years He was employed by the Monon railroad as a night roundhouse foreman until 1917 when he was employed as day foreman until his retirement in 1947 He was a member of the and AM lodge 123 Murat Shrine Scottish Rite Valley Indianapolis and che Modern Woodman lodge Lafayette He married Pauline Louise Le Gras in 1906 She preceded him in death in 1948 Surviving are three sons Bur ton of Jacksonville Ill aid of Lafayette Paul Henry of ort Wayne MRS MARY DRAVIS Mrs Mary Dravis 71 of 1312 erry died riday in Lo gansport state hospital after a four year illness She was married to James Lucas in 1905 and after his death she married William Dravis in 1918 He died in 1934 She was a member of St Mary Cathedral Surviving are two daughters Mrs Raymond arrell and Mrs Neal Smith both of Lafayette SAMUEL REED CHALMERS Samuel Reed 78 of Chalmers died at 5:50 a Saturday in St Elizabeth hospital Lafayette one day fol lowing surgery He had been a patient in the hospital five days Born at Bloomington Mr Reed was married to Martha Miller in 1907 at Lafayette He attended Purdue university and had lived in Canada 20 years before com ing to the Chalmers community where he farmed for 26 years He retired three years ago Mr Reed was a member of Chalmers com munity church Surviving with the widow is son Harold Reed of Chalmers MRS ELIZABETH LIPTRAP ATTICA Mrs Elizabeth (Davis) Liptrap 65 died at 5:15 am Saturday in her home at 703 East Jackson Attica after a five week illness Born in Warren county she was married in 1912 in Lake county to John Liptrap who died several years ago She lived on a Warren county farm until seven years ago when she moved to Attica She was a member of irst Methodist church and Pythian
