Hoosiers are already slandering our beloved first place Boilers All across Bloomington Hoosiers are saying win the Old Oaken Bucket got to steal J1 Hard as it may be to admit got a point Two Purdue students pleaded guilty Monday in Bloomington to a misdemeanor charge of trying to swipe the Bucket symbol of the Purdue Indiana rivalry Paul Nevill and Edward Gedeon both 21 year old Purdue seniors were accused of throwing a brick through the glass display case that has housed the bucket for the past two years in campus student union They allegedly broke the glass shortly before 3 pm Saturday right in the middle of an IU home football game But before they could make off with the Bucket three student union employees caught them in the act They found one of the students right beside the display case and caught the other one fleeing down a deadend corridor But these clearly were not dastardly villains At the scene of the alleged crime an envelope was attached to the brick Inside was a note apologizing for breaking the glass and $90 in cash to pay for new glass Student union officials received a note Monday in which the two Purdue students said their action was only a prank and they did not plan to harm the Bucket The note also said they had discussed ways of returning the bucket to IU One way discussed was hanging it on the door of (Purdue President) Arthur home Indiana University police said Nevill and Gedeon were not intoxicated at the time of the incident The pair pleaded guilty to criminal conversion and crim inal mischief charges and will be sentenced on Nov 10 They were released on $500 bond The bucket which reputedly dates from the Civil War has beep placed in a more secure spot until this battle on Nov 25 at Ross Ade Staidium IU officials refused to disclose the location of the Buck new home BLUME Herman riends may JOHNSON Mrs Dennis riends may call after 4 pm Wednesday at Konzelman uneral Home Oxford where Rosary service will be at 7:30 pm The
