marble The high top is almost covered with carved wood pieces which match the design on the lower part It has 4 small shelves The top has been stored in the attic for many years and is missing the mirror THE CUPBOARD In the mid 1 Mrs Coffman's grandparents William and Diana Arbaugh and the parents of General George Armstrong Custer Emanuel and Maria Custer lived on neighboring farms near the little village of New Rumley Harrison County Ohio A cabinet maker in the village made furniture for many of the farm homes The Custers and the Arbaughs ordered their furniture from him When Mr and Mrs Custer moved to Monroe Michigan in 1865 it was difficult to transport large pieces of furniture so they sold most of It at auction and Mr Arbaugh bought most of It this cupboard being one of the pieces When Mrs Coffman's grandmother sold her home about 1900 she divided her furniture among her children Mrs Coffman's mother Arina Arbaugh Campbell asked for the "Custer Cupboard" and it was ship ped to her from Ohto to Crawfordsville Mrs Coffman inherited it from her mother It is a beautiful 7 ft tall cherry comer cupboard with 2 doors at the top containing 16 panes at original glass and two
