1937 Deaths Couples Charles E. Burns Charles E. "Charley" Burns, 63, of 1614 N. 27th died at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday in his home fol lowing an illness of 16 years.

A resident of Lafayette the past 16 years, he was born March 26, 1924, in Tipton. He moved to Lafayette from southern Il i linois. Lloyd S. Chambers Lloyd S. "Spec" Chambers.

74. of Massena, N.Y a retired Alcoa engineer, died at 8:30 p.m. Monday in Massena. Mr. Chambers was head engineer at the local Alcoa plant for 40 vears.

retiring in 1974. He was born in Stockholm. N.Y., July 15. 1913. His marriage was to Beatrice Barnes, Aug.

17. 1933. 3nd" she survives. Mr. Chambers moved to Massena following his retirement.

At one time he owned and operated Massena Coin Shop in Lafayette. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in New York and the Numismatic Society. Surviving with his widow is a daughter. Connie Chambers of Lafayette. Service will be Thursday in Massena.

Emma C. Sanders Emma Christine Nehrig Sanders. 95. a former resident of 610 Evergreen WL. died at 1:30 m.

Monday in Home Hospital following a illness. She had been in the hospital since June 1 1 She had been making her home with a duller. Bettie Payne, of 70 Elder Court. ff CtM4sM Kami I mT. T.

His marriage on Jan. 18, 1947, in Noblesville, was to Phyllis Huffman and she survives. Mr. Burns was a con struction worker and had Charles E. Burns been employed with the U.

J. Baker Co. in Indianapolis before his retirement. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He also was a member of Carpenters Union Local 60 of Indianapolis.

Robert and Rhonda Morrison Burgess Morrison-Burgess Mr. Burns was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. Surviving with his widow are five daughters, Mrs. Rhonda L. Morrison and Robert J.

Burgess were married July 11. The Rev. Forest W. Howell offici A lifelong resident of Greater Lafayette, she was married Oct. 14.

Burns of New Albany, and Terry Burns of Hobart; his mother, Marie Burns of Noblesville; and a sister, Dorothy Warren of Noblesville. Honor attendants were Laurie Powell-Howard of ton Sanders and he died Jan. 9. 1961. Her husband was a retired Purdue University professor of engineering.

She was a member of First United Church in West Lafayette; the West Lafayette Order of Eastern Star; the West Lafavette Twelve Club; the Alpha Chi Omega Mother's dub; and the Agapai Club. Surviving is her daughter, Beltie Payne of Barstow, and Scott Burgess of Indianapolis. Other members of the wedding party were Cindy Harvey F. Warne Morrison, Missy Burgess, Colleen Wright, Rich Morrison, John Anthrop, Jeff Bol, Sarah Vice, RENSSELAER Harvey Francis Warne. 77, a Matthew Anthrop, all of Lafayette; Bob Schnepp of Brookston; Jeff Watson of Kokomo; and Jonathon retired postal worker, died at 4:37 a.m.

N.Y., to Louise Norman, and she survives. it- i.j i Also surviving are four brothers, Virgil Warne of Et Cetera Picnic welcomes foreign students Purdue University's foreign students will be guests at a get-acquainted picnic sponsored by the university's International Center at 6 p.m.

Friday. The picnic will be held at Squirrel Park, located at State Street and Airport Road, WL. An official at the International Center said 600 new foreign students will be enrolling at Purdue for the fall semester. Foreign residents of the community are invited out to help welcome the visiting students. Workshop will teach video owners A workshop designed to teach camera technique to home video camera owners will be held Saturday at Happy Hollow Park by the West Lafayette Parks and Recreation Department.

The session will begin at 10:30 a.m. in Shelter 2, and the cost will be $2 a person. The instructor will be Peter Fadde, an audio visual coordinator for the Central Indiana Area Library Service. After instructions, students will take their cameras and shoot footage in the park and the results will be reviewed and criticized. For more information, call 463-4551.

Pow Wow will be this weekend The fourth annual Traditional Indiana Pow Wow will be Saturday and Sunday at the Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds at Lebanon. Sponsored by the American Indian Council, gates will open at 10 a.m. daily and continue through 10 p.m. Saturday and to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children ages 6 through 12. Indian dances will be performed from 1:30 p.m. through 4 p.m. and from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

on Saturday. Sunday dancing will be from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Traders will sell authentic Indian goods and crafts and foods suring the Pow Wow. Indian tribe to be represented at the Pow Wow include Cree, Cherokee, Chippewa, Delaware, Navajo, Kiowa-Apache, Balckfoot, Sioux, Winnebago, Potawatomi, Shawnee and Miami.

Kaplan Award seeks nominations Nominations are now being accepted for the Lillian Kaplan Award sponsored by the Family Services Agency. The award, to be presented in September, was established when Kaplan retired after many years as executive director of Family Services. Fourth St. Wesley Manor plans bazaar FRANKFORT Wesley Manor in Frankfort will sponsor the second annual Ceramic and Arts and Crafts sale on Saturday, Aug. 29. The bazaar, with the theme "Goin' Country" will be open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Sewing instructors will train KENTLAND The Newton County Cooperative Extension Service is cooperating with Purdue University in a program to train sewing educators to present programs and give classes. Sue Frischie, an extension program assistant in Newton County, said the persons will be trained to teach classes using the latest quick sewing methods and making one-of-a-kind clothing. When trained, they will present programs and teach classes for fabric stores and the Extension service. "A selected teacher from Newton County will join those from other Indiana counties in September to receive the training. They will be trained by the Purdue extension service in standard sewing techniques, operation of the latest sewing and pressing equipment, teaching methods, and business management," Frischie said.

Interested persons must be skilled in sewing, possess good communication skills, and enjoy working with people. Those interested are asked to contact Frischie at the Newton County Extension Service in the Newton County Courthouse. Wendy's said she made in 19S4 for the "Where's the ads, but Mrs. Peller disputed that. The chain reported a 31 percent increase in annual revenue during the campaign. Earlier this year, Mrs. Peller was inducted into an advertising hall of fame established by San Francisco's Museum of Modern Mythology.
