Oak Health Cam pus Nursing Home in Monticello or April 28 1928 in Monticello her parents Delzell 1960s wereArland Kilmer and Marjorie Scott Kilm er She lived in the Monticel lo area all of her life was a 1946 graduate of Monticel loHigh School and attend ed St Elizabeth School of Nursing in Lafayette She received a certified dental assistant degree from In diana University and was a certified dental assistant for 35 years Most recently she worked for a local den tist Dr RD Gannon and also was the office man ager Mrs Delzell was a past president of Business Professional Women past chairwoman of Tippecanoe Country golf section a Tippecanoe Country Club member and an avid golfer and was an animal lover On July 26 1953 she married Gerald Delzell in Monticello He is the only immediate survivor Services are Sunday in Monticello wwwmiller rosckafh com Heroin sale leads to charges against 3 An investigation into sources for heroin in Tippecanoe County has led to criminal charges against three people in cluding a Lafayette couple accused of placing four children in their home in danger Demetrius Newell 36 is suspected of selling heroin on four instances to an undercover detective with the Tippecanoe Coun ty Drug Task orce Newell is charged in Tippecanoe Superior Court 2 with 15 felonies including multiple counts of conspiracy to commit dealing in a narcotic drug dealing in a narcotic drug possession of a narcotic drug and neglect of a de pendent He was being held ri day night in the Tippecanoe County Jail on a $100000 surety bond fiancee Kelly Thornton 31 is charged in the same court with pos session of a narcotic drug maintaining a common nuisance and four counts of neglect of a dependent also accused of be ing a habitual substance offender which is a sen tencing enhancement Thornton was being held in jail riday night on a $12500 surety bond and a $1250 cash bond A third woman Nicolle Stewart 29 is charged with conspiracy to commit dealing in a narcotic drug three counts of dealing in a narcotic drug and two counts of possession of a narcotic drug A warrant for arrest was issued this week but she was not listed as a jail inmate as of riday night According to a prob able cause affidavit filed in support of the charges the investigation began with information that a woman named was a source for heroin in Tippecanoe County A phone number for that woman allegedly be longs to Stewart accused of selling heroin to an undercover detective on June 2 and 3 the second time al legedly accompanied by Newell The detective then al legedly bought suspected heroin directly from New ell on June 7 9 and 14 Newell was arrested shortly after the June 14 sale during a traffic stop made by the drug task force and Lafayette Po lice Street Crimes Unit arrest came when police served a search warrant at apartment She allegedly had slurred speech could not stand up and was falling asleep when police tried to speak with her Her four children ages 1 month to 14 years were also home at the time Investigators suspect that Newell was purchas ing heroin in Indianapolis to resell here Sophia Voravong svoravongjconlinecom Goodbye garden Eleven children ages 10 to 14 came out riday for the groundbreaking of the Veggies and Vets program planting vegetables with 10 residents at the Indiana Home see the faces and they were Mike Durrett Hanna Community Center assistant program director said Bill Sabel a 95 year old World War II veteran who now resides at the West Lafayette home said he was excited to see the interac tion between generations great that they learn a little bit about what my generation went Sabel said During a New Eve dinner Sabel told Jesse Moore a Hanna Commu nity Center board member about his garden in the South Pacific during the war when the idea for theproject was planted Sabel said he hopes the pro gram will encourage kids to grow their own gardens kids need to have something to keep them busy during the summer instead of sitting in front of the he said Harlan Hickman a resi dent at the veterans home said he planted tomatoes as a child As the kids planted HOW TO HELP Dewayne Moffitt
